1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device, remember your actions and preferences (such as language, login) and support various functions like security, analytics or advertising.
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as local storage, pixels or tags. In this policy, we refer to all of these technologies collectively as “cookies”.
2. Who Sets Cookies on This Site?
Cookies on aituning.io are set by:
- AI Tuning / Sandrex Group EOOD – first-party cookies used for essential site functionality and self-hosted analytics (Matomo).
- Complianz – our cookie consent and management tool for displaying the banner and storing your choices.
- Cloudflare – our content delivery network (CDN) and security provider, which sets necessary cookies to distinguish legitimate traffic from bots.
- LinkedIn – if you consent, LinkedIn Insight Tag sets cookies for conversion tracking, audience analytics and remarketing.
- Meta (Facebook / Instagram) – if you consent, Meta Pixel sets cookies for advertising and remarketing.
Which cookies are actually active at any time may change as we adjust our services or run specific campaigns. The cookie banner and scan (via Complianz) provide the most up-to-date overview.
3. Cookie Categories We Use
Complianz groups cookies into categories. On aituning.io we currently use the following:
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Required for the basic operation, security and consent management of the site. These cookies cannot be switched off in our systems. | Complianz consent cookies, Cloudflare security cookies, session cookies for load balancing and security. | Our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in providing a secure, functional website and recording your consent choices. |
| Preferences (if used) | Store your preferences (e.g. language) to improve usability. | Certain Complianz cookies that remember user preferences. | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) where required, or legitimate interests for strictly technical preferences. |
| Analytics / Statistics | Help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve content, navigation and performance. |
Matomo on-premise cookies (e.g. _pk_id.*,
_pk_ses.*, _pk_ref.*).
|
Depending on configuration and local requirements: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) with data minimisation and/or your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) via the cookie banner. |
| Marketing | Enable us and our partners to measure campaign performance and show relevant ads (e.g. on LinkedIn, Facebook/Instagram). |
LinkedIn Insight Tag cookies (e.g. lidc,
bcookie, li_gc,
UserMatchHistory), Meta Pixel cookies (e.g.
_fbp, fr).
|
Only on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), granted via the cookie banner. Without consent, marketing cookies are blocked. |
4. Main Cookies and Services Used
Below is an overview of the main cookies and services that may be used on aituning.io. Names and lifetimes are indicative and may change slightly as providers update their implementations or as our setup evolves. The Complianz cookie scan and banner reflect the current situation.
4.1. Complianz (Cookie Banner & Consent Management)
We use the Complianz plugin to show the cookie banner, block non-essential scripts until consent, and store your choices. Typical Complianz cookies include (examples):
| Name (examples) | Provider | Purpose | Category | Storage period (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cmplz_choice, complianz_policy_id, cmplz_consent_status | Complianz / aituning.io | Store whether you have seen and answered the cookie banner and which policy/version applies. | Necessary | Approx. 6–12 months |
| cmplz_statistics, cmplz_statistics-anonymous, cmplz_stats | Complianz / aituning.io | Remember if you consented to analytics/statistics cookies so we can respect your choice. | Preferences / Analytics | Approx. 6–12 months |
| cmplz_marketing, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_saved_categories | Complianz / aituning.io | Remember if you consented to marketing cookies and which categories were accepted. | Preferences / Marketing | Approx. 6–12 months |
4.2. Cloudflare (CDN & Security)
We use Cloudflare as a content delivery network and security layer. It sets cookies to identify trusted traffic and protect our site from bots and abuse. Examples:
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Storage period (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Distinguishes between humans and bots and helps manage and mitigate automated traffic to protect the site. | Necessary | About 30 minutes |
| __cflb or similar (if used) | Cloudflare | Load balancing cookie that ensures you are consistently routed to the same server for a smooth experience. | Necessary | Session or up to 24 hours |
4.3. Matomo On-Premise (Analytics)
For privacy-friendly analytics we use a self-hosted Matomo instance on EU infrastructure. Matomo uses first-party cookies set on the domain aituning.io. Typical cookies include:
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Storage period (default) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _pk_id.* | AI Tuning / Matomo | Stores a pseudonymous unique ID to recognise returning visitors and compile statistics. | Analytics | Up to 13 months |
| _pk_ses.*, _pk_cvar* | AI Tuning / Matomo | Session cookies used to temporarily store data for the visit (e.g. pages viewed, events). | Analytics | About 30 minutes |
| _pk_ref.* | AI Tuning / Matomo | Stores attribution information (e.g. which site or campaign referred you to our website). | Analytics | Up to 6 months |
Depending on the configuration, Matomo may be operated in a mode that does not require cookies. In such cases, the above cookies may not be set, or may only be set after you consent to analytics in the cookie banner.
4.4. LinkedIn Insight Tag (Marketing)
When you consent to marketing cookies, we may use the LinkedIn Insight Tag to measure conversions, build website audiences and better understand which LinkedIn campaigns lead to visits and inquiries.
The tag allows LinkedIn to set cookies and associate visits to our website with LinkedIn member accounts. Typical cookies used by LinkedIn Insight include:
| Name (examples) | Provider | Purpose | Category | Storage period (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| lidc, bcookie, li_gc | Used for routing, remembering consent and identifying browsers to support login and security features. | Marketing | Session to 2 years | |
| UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory | Help store information about LinkedIn ad interactions and website visits to build audience analytics and retargeting. | Marketing | A few weeks to several months |
4.5. Meta Pixel (Facebook / Instagram)
If you consent to marketing cookies, we may use Meta Pixel to measure and optimise advertising on Facebook and Instagram and build custom or lookalike audiences.
The Pixel uses cookies such as:
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Storage period (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta Platforms | Stores a browser identifier to deliver advertising and measure performance across websites using Meta services. | Marketing | Approx. 3 months |
| fr (and related cookies) | Meta Platforms | Helps deliver, measure and improve the relevancy of ads, and track user behaviour across sites that use Meta technologies. | Marketing | Up to 3 months |
5. How You Can Manage Cookies
5.1. Via the Cookie Banner (Complianz)
When you first visit our website, a cookie banner will appear. It allows you to:
- Accept all cookies;
- Reject non-essential cookies;
- Choose categories (e.g. Analytics, Marketing) in more detail.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the “Cookie settings” link or icon displayed on our website. Your new choice will apply from that moment onwards.
5.2. Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to block cookies, delete existing cookies or configure settings so that cookies are deleted at the end of a session. Please note that blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of this and other websites.
5.3. Opt-out from Third-Party Providers
For some marketing services, you can also manage preferences directly with the provider (for example in your LinkedIn or Facebook account settings). However, on aituning.io marketing cookies are not set at all unless you have given consent in our cookie banner.
6. International Data Transfers
Some of the third-party providers mentioned above (e.g. LinkedIn, Meta, Cloudflare) may process data in countries outside the European Economic Area. In such cases, these providers use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or participate in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, where applicable.
For details, please refer to their respective privacy and cookie policies. More information on international transfers and our approach is also available in our Privacy Policy.
7. Legal Basis and Relation to Our Privacy Policy
The use of necessary cookies is based on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in operating a secure and functional website.
Analytics and marketing cookies are used only on the basis of your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you can give or withdraw via the cookie banner at any time.
For more information about how we process personal data, your rights under GDPR and how to contact us, please see our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we change the cookies we use or if legal requirements evolve. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page. Significant changes may be highlighted on our website or communicated by other appropriate means.
If you have questions about this Cookie Policy or our use of cookies, please contact us at [email protected].
